National Seminar on 30 Years of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in Indonesia, 17-18 July 2019

In 2019, the Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture UGM in collaboration with the Yogyakarta Branch of the Indonesian Entomology Association and the Indonesian Phytopathological Association Regional Commission Joglosemar held a National Seminar on 30 Years of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in Indonesia as a moment to evaluate the long journey of implementing the IPM national program in Indonesia for 30 years. This seminar was also held to commemorate the struggle of the founding fathers of IPM so that IPM legally became part of the plant cultivation system in Indonesia. Founding fathers from Department of Plant Protection Faculty of Agriculture, namely Prof. Kasumbogo Untung, Prof. Eddy Mahrub, and Prof. Triharso. The seminar was attended by Mrs. Kasumbogo Untung and Mrs. Eddy Mahrub.
The seminar was attended by 150 participants from various regions in Indonesia from the government, researchers, lecturers, practitioners, and industry. The seminar was divided into two parts, namely plenary and parallel, with eight main speakers (plenary session), 60 papers in parallel sessions and 8 posters. Topics discussed in the parallel session included lessons from 30 years of IPM, socio-economic aspects of IPM, biology and biological control, pesticides and their impacts, semiochemistry, plant resistance to plant pests, phytopathology and molecular entomology, nematodes and their control, beneficial organisms. and edibles in IPM, as well as trans boundary movements.
